"Pidge" Framed Pigeon print by Anna’s Drawing Room

"Pidge is a combination of hand drawn and painted layers, assembled with text to create a digital collage. It’s now here in the form of a framed fine art print at hello DODO’s show!

Making this for the show was a real labour of love. It brought together some ideas that had been mulling in my mind, with some sketches and notes waiting patiently in my sketchbooks.

It was really fun trying to take a photo I could draw the pigeon from - of course you normally see them everywhere but when you need them to pose they don’t always play ball.

When I finally had a few reasonable reference photos I was saying ‘thanks pidge’ to my model (who resides in the park across the road) and the name Pidge stuck.

I then drew it in my current favourite medium of coloured pencils, cut him out and foraged in my sketchbooks for the right environment for him to live on.

It was daunting adding the text - why would anyone want that - but it’s part of a little story or zine, I’m not sure what it is really. But I wanted it there.
